These are the items I’ve made thus far. Apart from the beanie I haven’t used a pattern. I definitely need to up my skills a level. I kind of got stuck in an autistic rut of producing one thing after another. It’s ok though and I shouldn’t be too hard on myself.
I’ve happily been using my handspun which falls somewhere between 4 ply and double knit weight; it all depends on the fibre really. This means patterns often need tweaking.
The first picture is a few items using commercial yarn… two pairs of hand mitts and a dishcloth. I really dislike the dishcloth craft yarn with all its stringy little hangy bits. I gave up trying to crochet with it as I couldn’t see the stitches and resorted to knitting it. It’s also tough on my hands and wrists. I bought them when they were reduced in price but wish I hadn’t.
From here on all yarn is handspun. The next are a pair of leg warmers…
A beanie and matching mitts…
And several more pairs of mitts…
Hmm… I’m planning on gifting myself the leg warmers π
We have family visiting on Saturday. They are likely not able to visit again until well into the new year so I have plans to hang the Christmas tree and do a bit of decorating to excite the grandchildren π· π§
Wishing you a day of contentedness wherever you are and lots of love from me

Love these! Especially the hand mitts and leg warmers – do you sell any of your items? xx

Hmm…the thought has fleetingly passed through my mind. I guess the answer is probably a yes π

It should be alright to gift the legwarmers to you π.
Have fun with your family.

They are all lovely! And leg warmers are a great idea!
May I ask what yarn did you use for the dishcloth?

You are so kind, thank you! Although I have no idea where is the contact page, I mean I don’t see it. Which made me realise that I don’t have one on my blog either.

Oh dear! My menu has disappeared! I was playing around with it a while back trying to create an extra page. I’m going to try changing the theme and see if that helps… Hopefully yarn and pencil won’t disappear completely!

Hooray, I’ve fixed it, I now have my menu back. Thankfully I didn’t change themes as I found a page that recommends you do fifteen things before you changed theme and that scared me off. I tried ticking a box in the customiser and hey presto π

Do you spin your own yarn? I do a lot of crochet and find some of the commercial yarns are hard on my hands too. I’m having a break just now as it’s far too hot to crochet here in summer. Can get up to 44C some days π¦

Yes I do spin π Having lived in the north of Auckland for many years I can appreciate that it’s hardto crochet in the summer. Commercial yarns generally have a lot of acrylic and other man made fibres that have very little give to them. 100% wool yarn is much easier on our hands as it has bit of give to it.

You’re right, it does. My mother-in-law had a spinning wheel. I have no idea what happened to it when they moved. Shame

Oh that is a shame. My mum had a wheel but she didn’t really take to spinning. She has kept her wheel as she loves it as a beautiful object π
