It was the village carol service tonight. I find this event very difficult to deal with each year as I cannot tolerate the lights and noise in the church anymore. So I went over and peered through the windows hoping I wouldn’t be seen. It was rather strange behaviour!
So I feel sad.
I took some photos with my phone as the church looks very beautiful. The image quality is poor but I think it gives something worth sharing.
The church looks beautiful lit up in the darkness. Far better than being inside in a crowd with all those lights!

Lol, I felt a bit like a stalker to be honest. It’s quite warm this evening and it was nice outside.
Thank you π π

So pretty! I am sorry that the lights and sound were too much for you to go inside, but it does look so nice from the outside looking in. My church is just a building, not much for taking pictures of, but there are some nice people within.

That’s just as it should be π
I haven’t been to church for a long time now. The lights have always been a problem and I use to be able to tolerate them at times if wearing dark glasses and a brimmed hat but since they got their new, louder organ it’s too much.
Thank you π π

Organ music can be very piercing and have low vibrations that go through your body. I can understand why this would affect you. Maybe next time you could get someone to video the carol service then you could watch it with the volume turned down. It looks like a very old and historic church. Beautiful architecture.

Yes, that’s for sure. That’s a great idea but they don’t have the resources to do that. However I shall make the suggestion π Thank you Kat and Ellie xx π

I think it’s wonderful that you still got to enjoy it in your own way, away from the crowd and the noise. You could have stayed home and missed it completely, but you didn’t. You braved going out and experiencing it for yourself. Well done! And the pictures are beautiful – very calming and almost magical.

For me it’s the crowds in church at this time of year. I can’t bear the squish of people, worst still is the smell of alcohol at the midnight mass.

Eww… No, not nice and rather off putting I would think.
Thank you π

I’m sorry to hear you find yourself unable to attend, that’s such a shame. The sound of an organ is incredibly intense, it’s not surprising you’ve struggled with it. Christmas is something of a sensory nightmare at times isn’t it? Sending love and peace xxx

Beautiful photos.
I’m glad you enjoyed the event by your terms and to me, the quiet outside may be more beautiful. Silence is soothing and in such a beautiful setting, I imagine you were so blessed, in spite of being a little sad.

Thank you Maggie π I’m glad I went over and also pleased I didn’t meet anyone while I was lurking in the shadows! Since then I’ve listened to a sermon on YouTube and that really helped β€
